A Real Gin Joint in Portland

Amongst popular drinking culture, gin has surely fallen behind vodka in popularity. However, in the same sense that many people prefer a nice, hoppy microbrew to a domestic American lager, the enlightened drinkers of our time still know that gin is the superior spirit to vodka. I won't rant (now anyway) on why gin is better.. either you know or you don't. But assuming you have been enlightened, and you live in Portland, Oregon, you can quench your gin thirst by stopping by Park Kitchen on the North Park Blocks. In rare but bold form, here's a bar with more gins than vodkas on their martini menu. Cout 'em.. 21 gins:
  • Anchor Distilling Co. "Junipero" (California)
  • Indigo (Spain)
  • Bombay (England)
  • Bombay Sapphire (England)
  • Tanqueray (England)
  • Tanqueray #10 (England)
  • Beefeater (England)
  • Plymouth (England)
  • Broker's (England)
  • Mercury London Dry (England)
  • Juniper Green Organic (England)
  • Hendrick's (Scotland)
  • Cadenhead's "Old Raj" (Scotland)
  • Graffiti (Scotland)
  • Damrak (Holland)
  • Boomsma "Jonge" Genever (Holland)
  • Boomsma "Oude" Genever (Holland)
  • Zuidam Genever (Holland)
  • Zuidam Dry(Holland)
  • Schlichte Steinhaeger Dry (Germany)
  • Doppel Wacholder (Germany)
Now if they'd only put the gin list ahead of the vodka list in the martini section ...
